My name is Victoria Shi, and I’m an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. I’m currently pursuing a dual degree in marketing and communication (concentration in public relations).
I love creativity, design, and innovation, which is why I hold various marketing and public relations positions around campus. I’m currently an ASOS Brand Specialist for Youth Marketing Connection, which means I promote ASOS on social media and implement campus-wide events. Last year, I was a campus representative for two organizations, Vince Camuto and Cross-Cultural Solutions, along with VP Marketing for Net Impact, an organization that empowers professionals to use business to better the world. My position in Net Impact exemplifies my desire to create impactful change with my career, as well as inspire others to do the same. I’ve also worked as a marketing intern at a nonprofit organization called Hope Connections for Cancer Support and an event-planning intern for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
My other passions include writing, reading, painting, and traveling the world. In 2012, I was fortunate enough to travel to seven countries: China, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Canada, and Australia. My favorite place in the world is Sydney, Australia, which is where I spent my winter break soaking up the sun, learning about indigenous communities, and playing with kangaroos! I’m headed to Vienna, Austria for the spring semester of 2014, and I can’t wait for that adventure to begin.
One of my favorite quotes is from John Steinbeck: “And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.”
